New Zealand is the perfect place to go tramping - there
are tracks suitable for relative beginners, while more experienced trampers can always find
something a little more challenging. Many, including the Great Walks, are well-maintained and
relatively easy to access. The Nelson region is particularly spoilt, as it has three national
parks: the Abel Tasman, the Kahurangi and the Nelson Lakes national parks, each of which offers a
myriad of tramping options.
However, although New Zealand is a country of trampers, it is important to be well-prepared. The
weather can change dramatically in minutes and temperatures at summits can differ greatly from the
valleys. At Rollo’s Outdoor Centre, we stock a wide range of equipment, clothing and gear to make
your tramp a safe one. We also hire some equipment, so you can still be prepared, even if you are
on a short holiday in the region.
